Empowering African-Australian Women
Miss Sahara is more than just a beauty pageant—it’s a movement. Founded in 2018, Miss Sahara was born out of a vision to empower and celebrate African-Australian women. Our mission is to provide a platform where these incredible women can showcase their culture, talent, and beauty, while also inspiring confidence, leadership, and community engagement.
Miss Sahara began in Australia, inspired by our founder Anyier’s deep experience in the beauty pageant and fashion industries. Recognizing a gap in opportunities for African-Australian women, she created Miss Sahara to address this need. We believe that every woman deserves a platform to shine, and through Miss Sahara, we aim to uplift and empower women who have often been underrepresented.
Our Mission
At Miss Sahara, our goal is to promote diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness within the broader Australian society. We strive to challenge stereotypes and offer positive representations of African heritage. By doing so, we hope to inspire a new generation of leaders and role models within the African-Australian community.
Our Journey
Since our inception in 2018, Miss Sahara has faced and overcome challenges in building brand awareness, securing sponsorship, and expanding our reach. Through determination and the support of our community, we’ve built a strong and respected brand that stands out for its cultural relevance and commitment to empowerment.

Testimonials
I may not be an expert in beauty or fashion, but I am certain that the lead for this project is outstanding in her own right, and a highly valued colleague. Anyier Yuol is determined, talented role model (on and off the runway) and selflessly carrying the cost of this feat at her own personal time and expense. I will admit that I am not one to gaze at the beauty of women by their physical appearance or their elegance in a bikini, but I am a huge supporter of genuine community minded services with an orientation towards making an impact and enhancing representation at different levels. This project is admirable and ambitious, and I cannot help but hope to see it succeed. I may skip over the bikini contest and definitely will miss the alcoholic drinks, but I am 100% in for what this pageant ultimately represents in terms of valuing women as they are and appreciating the ways in which people are truly beautiful inside and out. Looking forward to seeing this amazing event in action. Having the privilege of knowing the lead organiser and her endless drive and compassion, I am certain it will be nothing less than exceptional. Thank you for being the change you wish to see in the world, and here’s to beauty that is truly inclusive and representative of us all
